Sea creature corpses, on the beach
Washed from waves, buried in sand
Bloated flesh with blues and purples
Splotches and boils as big as plates
Striped, in scars and gashes; bloody
Stains that trailed as crust– dried up
Stream beds that sourced from their
Eyes and deltad into the gritted earth
Left the chilling appearance of man’s
Glasgow smiles; violent impressions
Plastered, on alien faces, frozen and
Locked for as long as they remained
In limbo– for as long as they had left
Remaining on earth– as if that, it had
All been planned– as if this was their
Funeral– on the beach, decomposing.
