A True, Good Friend

Years ago, for many days, I had wronged, a true, good friend
And when this was, I cannot say, we were not the age of men
He needed me, and this I knew, but all I’d do was turn away
He confronted me, I’d be so cruel, making fun not to his face
My guilt was true, I know through, excuses for his every way
And when this was, I cannot say, I had not known better then
Years ago, I know today, how I had lost, a true, good friend
