Knife Block

Though black and white
surrounds it,
there is no glimmer
in it mixing,
there is no silver lining.

I’m guilty. I’m guilty.
I’m also free.
These tainted eyes
see no bars. —
I see promise in everything
painted in yellow;

I also see red
in what you eat;
And in the blue shade,
the ugliest green.

I see me.
Guilty by my own admission,
and to what-
I still don’t know.

But I’m sure that I did it.
I stabbed a fork in it.
I know that I’d have tried.
Knife block to my soul.
